Driving range in Barcelona: where to practise your swing

If what you want is to hit balls — not play a round, but repeat shots and fix things — Barcelona gives you two routes: drive out of the city to an outdoor range, or practise in the city in a simulator bay. This page explains what actually differs between them, and when each one makes sense.

Short answer: there are no outdoor driving ranges inside Barcelona city; they are all in the metropolitan area. To practise without leaving town, the alternative is the Trackman 4 simulator bays at Eagle Club, Muntaner 202 (Eixample), from €30 per player per hour, with every shot measured and no dependence on the weather.

Is there a driving range in Barcelona city?

Not within the city limits. A driving range needs several hectares of open ground, and that does not exist in Barcelona: the ranges are out in the metropolitan area, 20–45 minutes away by car. Perfectly doable, but it turns a one-hour practice session into a three-hour outing.

The alternative inside the city is practising indoors with measurement. It is not the same thing, and it is worth knowing exactly how it isn’t.

Neither wins outright. At an outdoor range you see the real ball flight in real wind, and that cannot be simulated. In a bay you know why it flew that way, which is what you need in order to fix it.

What a Trackman 4 tells you that watching the ball doesn’t

Trackman 4 is the measurement system used by PGA Tour professionals. On every shot it records, among other data, ball speed, spin, launch angle and the real distance carried.

The practical difference is this: on a range, two shots that finish the same distance away can be one good strike and one lucky mis-hit, and by eye you cannot tell them apart. With the numbers in front of you, you can. That is why an hour of measured practice is worth more than two of blind repetition, and why most coaching today is done with this kind of system.

What a practice session at Eagle Club looks like

You book the bay online by the hour or half hour, without being a member and without a handicap. Each bay is a private space with a sofa, a table and a screen. You can use it in practice mode — hitting balls and reading numbers — or play one of the 200-plus courses available.

Club hire is optional, only if you are not bringing your own: €7 an hour, included for members. If you would rather have someone watch what you are doing, lessons with a qualified coach start at €70 an hour, or from €60 a lesson with the ten-lesson pack, equipment included. Coaching is available in English.

How many shots do you hit in an hour?

More than you would in a round of 18 holes. In a bay there is no walking, no waiting and no looking for balls: you hit, read the number and hit again. If several of you share a bay the rhythm is split, so for serious practice it makes sense to go alone or in a pair; a bay of four is more of a night out than a training session.

When each option makes sense

  • I’m fixing a specific fault. A bay with data. Without measurement you are guessing.
  • I’m preparing for a round at the weekend. Both: a bay midweek for technique, an outdoor range if you want to reacquaint yourself with real ball flight.
  • I have a free hour after work. A bay, without question. Wednesday to Friday until 10 pm.
  • I’m starting from scratch. A lesson in a bay. Equipment included and no audience.
  • I want to hit balls outdoors and I have the afternoon. A driving range in the metropolitan area.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a driving range inside Barcelona?

Outdoors, no — there is no land for one inside the city. Practice within Barcelona is done in indoor simulator bays, such as those at Eagle Club in the Eixample.

Can I practise without being a member?

Yes. Bays are booked online without membership, without a handicap and without a federation licence. Membership gives discounts and priority access, but it is not required.

What if I don’t have clubs?

You can bring your own. If you don’t have any, hire is optional: €7 an hour, included for members. Equipment is included in lessons.

Can I practise on my own?

Yes. The rate is per player, so a bay for one person costs €30 an hour in the morning and €35 in the afternoon.

Is it useful for preparing to play a real course?

Yes for technique, precision play and knowing your distances with each club, because every shot is measured. What it does not reproduce is real wind or reading the terrain, so it works best combined with rounds on grass.

How late can I practise?

Until 22:00 Wednesday to Friday, and until 20:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday.
